THE MYRON B. SMITH SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The conference is pleased to announce that applications for the 2012 Myron B. Smith Scholarship Program are now available for employees and children of employees of H&PCLC member companies. This program, designed to help finance higher education, is managed by Career Opportunities Through Education, Inc. (COTE).
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must be dependent children of logistics employees of member companies in good standing, who are high school senior or graduates, or students who are enrolled in a full-time undergraduate program of study in an accredited 2 or 4 year school; e.g. university, college, community college, college of nursing, or vocational/technical school. A full-time employee may also be an applicant if that person is enrolled in a full-time undergraduate program (per above). The company member designee is responsible for selecting eligible employees who are employed in logistics or a logistics related field in the member company. Winners from prior years are not eligible to reapply.
SELECTION PROCEDURE AND AWARDS
Academic performance, rank in class, and standardized test scores will be the primary factors in the scoring process, along with; school extracurricular activities, volunteer community activities, part or full time work experience, and a short personal statement. Financial need is not a factor. Two $1,000 non-renewable awards will be awarded.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Interested applicants should use the attached request form to obtain an application. No application will be issued without request form.
KEY DATES
- Application request cards must be postmarked no later than February 24, 2012.
- Applications must be returned postmarked no later than March 9, 2012.
- Winners will be announced at the conference meeting in the Spring.
- All applicants will receive a written reply after the meeting.
- Direct any questions to the Scholarship Program Chairman or the conference office.
H&PCLC reserves the right to change or modify this program at any time.
